Prevention and Treatment for cellulites

March 2, 2009

Tissues containing fat, usually situated on the backs of the thighs, abdomen and bottoms are called cellulites and are mainly found in women. Men can have cellulites too although they are normally whiter or several shades lighter than their normal skin color. Normally, with good circulation, a person will have smooth skin layers, but when there is fluid in the layers, the stored fats, and other chemical toxins do not get cleaned out of the system and become trapped within the skin. These tissues harden and thicken, producing cellulites, bumpy lines in the skin often referred to as the ‘orange peel’ effect.

The appearance of the cellulites will depend upon each person’s genetics, their lifestyle and the weight of the individual, all of which are elements in cellulite formation. Because there are different types of cellulites, even active and fit individuals can suffer with them even if they are not chubby, including the likes of dancers and runners because the cellulites are found contained in the muscle itself. It’s the hard or solid cellulites that cause trouble and are hard to get rid of as they are attached directly to the muscular tissues. The fizzy cellulites on the other hand are more easily identified because they are closer to the surface of the skin and considerably easier to remove.

Unfortunately, it’s adult females who are most often the ones with cellulite trouble and they can start anytime after they turn 14 years of age plus as they mature, the affected regions become larger. The birth control pill has been linked with developing cellulites, as has giving birth and suffering from a trauma.

Improving the blood circulation with physical exercise, combined with a healthy diet, will improve the appearance of cellulites and is still thought to be the best way to improve your cellulites condition. From the diet standpoint, eating plenty of fruit and vegetables and working with a detoxifying diet, improves the chances of the cellulites disappearing. Try to eat more wholegrain foods but avoid wherever possible the likes of coffee and fizzy fizzy drinks.

Although so far unproved, it is considered by some that spicy foods may also help contribute to the establishment of cellulites. Still, the same cannot be said for smoking and alcohol which should be avoided as both help in the build-up of poisons in the body. While a reduced fat diet is always preferably for health, reducing the intake of fatty foods helps reduce the expansion of the cellulites because fat is tougher to digest and more difficult to remove from your body.

Although they cannot completely get rid of cellulites, cellulite emollients are quite productive in treating and hiding cellulite. The creams that contain alpha-hydroxyl acid help the suppleness of the skin making the cellulites less obvious but do not actually remove the cellulites. Water therapy is also establishing to be competent because it seems to make cellulites become less visible as it removes toxins in the body as well as fat and also aids in correct digestion and blood blood circulation.
